„Freiheit oder Tod“
GNX.IN is a very basic binary and source Linux distribution with simplyness in mind. GNX.IN tries to give the user the option to do whatever he wants with his linux box. It also integrates NetBSD™s pkgsrc and a pkgsrc-tree which is usable most of the time. GNX.IN represents a general operating system. The goal of GNX.IN is to be a very solid base for any Linux based solution.

GNX.IN combines Linux and Netbsd to build a rock solid and multi purpose system. GNX.IN uses the Linux kernel 2.6.15.1 to drive your machine the way you need it. The kernel is not optimized for a special case, but built with multipurpose in mind. The kernel supports many multimedia components as well as many servercomponents (incl. many scsi drivers builtin), so you are free to use GNX.IN for whatever environment you like.

GNX.IN borrows the whole package management from NetBSD, because it’s solid and easy to use, so you as an admin or a user will have the ability to manage a complicated softwaresystem with two or three commands. GNX.IN uses a state of pkgsrc that dates back to the beginning of this year. In the beginning of this year I picked the current pkgsrc-tree and started to testdrive it. I am now at a point where I fix the pkgsrc-tree by myself, because some things just breaks if you use pkgsrc on linux, so for a solid package database I fix the current state included in the GNX.IN 0.5 iso image. Until version 1.0 the pkgsrc-tree on the iso image will just be bugfixed, so no new software will be added. This is the only way to assure quality. I created GNX.IN using Linux, Perl, Inkscape .
